Pros: Really nice historic place with a special ambiance. One and only interior style which was made possible by the very talented lady of the house. Gentleman of the house definitely made it more entertaining with a small \

Cons: Bed too soft... but as my own preferance is to sleep on a hard-hard bed...

Great stopover near train in unique old house with fantastic pizza a short walk away

Pros: We got a great welcome from Nico with a history of the house and a recommendation for a nearby pizza place called Frank Pepe’s. It may be the best pizza I’ve had in the US. THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AND THE BED WAS COMFORTABLE. We arrived by train from NYC and it was a short 1.5 block walk from the State Street station. I had to double check the address as there were no signs out front. It was an easy 15 minute walk the next morning (without bags) to pick up the rental car at Union station. The coffee shop across the street had really good (but also very expensive, as Nico warned us) coffee. There are other options in the area, but we were in a hurry and it was a nice morning to sit at the table on the street.

Cons: All good.

Spooky & Charming

Pros: Nico is a warm and welcoming host and tells you the story of the house at arrival. The Inn is charming, little spooky and the decor takes you back in time. Rooms was very comfy, large bed, AC and kettle/microwave. Old school but that’s exactly what I envisioned when booking a historic mansion stay.

Cons: Late check in (6pm). Unable to check in earlier, I went sightseeing and came back at 7pm. I left at 7am so I basically paid a full price for a 12h stay. I was able to leave my luggage which was helpful but a standar check in at 2pm would be better.

I wouldn’t have missed this experience for the world!

Pros: The location on the historic end of Chapel St. was great, as our 2 destinations that weekend were the Yale Art Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art, both on Chapel. Also free parking all weekend. Plus, 1 block away is the marvelous Italian food district! And also other restaurants as close by in the other direction. This was a UNIQUE property, Very Old, but clean and bathroom well stocked. The proprietor, Nick, was delightful. He treasures his and Jacqueline’s (his wife) home and shared its unique history. But the HUGE surprise was the enormous amount of Jacquline’s art COVERING the entire ground floor, ESPECIALLY HER EXQUISITE HAND MADE DOLLS!!!! There must be a hundred or more spectacularly hand sculpted, elaborately costumed and handmade bejeweled “antique” styled dolls, with carefully researched historical costumes, though made with hilarious tongue in cheek touches that made them irresistible.

Cons: The pillows were new but tough foam rubber. And there seemed to be a lot of loud motorcycle racing and boombox playing cars well into the night.

Unique and unusual experience.

Pros: Nick was awesome! His wife’s artwork was all over the place and made for a totally unique and interesting experience. The place has an interesting history that Nick will share with you. It’s also walking distance from a cool bar/restaurant called Roli
