Pros: A property that is undergoing historical society, renovations, the proprietor set proper expectations, and was wonderfully pleasant. It was a pleasure, the way he greeted us at the front door with his two dogs. Customers should be aware that renovations are underway, but again, the proprietor kept the property very clean. We enjoyed our stay, and would return again.
Cons: Not much we didn’t like, except the subzero windchill outside, lol. However, the heat was pumping inside, pleasant music playing, and a brand new coffee shop made the ice outside melt away.

Great room in a great location, easy parking.
Pros: Great location, room size for double queen was fabulous, bathroom really nice, beds comfy. The room was very quiet, and staff welcomed us warmly.
Cons: It's a historical building, but other than the old room doors, old elevator, and old sash windows, it didn't present particularly historical -- something about the way the not-recently renovated parts seemed a bit bland, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Our bathroom, on the other hand, was very nicely renovated (maybe because it's a self-contained room and looked like it was very recently redone).

A lovely stay!
Pros: This was our second time staying here. A charming hotel in a lovely Stockade neighborhood. A walking distance to nice restaurants, coffee shops, the ice rink and Union college. The manager was very helpful and even picked us up from the airport late at night. Loved our stay.

We love old historic inns rather than the ubiquitous Marriot or Hiltons widely available.
Pros: The area around the Inn is safe, we left our car on the street-though there is a special lot across the street that can be used. The Stockade area has an interesting history dating back to 1690. There are old homes with placards and a walk around to the park near the Mohawk River is a must. The owner/manager helped us with our luggage as we were on the second floor. There is also an elevator to use. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the downtown Schenectady where there are a variety of dinner choices.
Cons: What could have been better? Maybe a complimentary coffee or breakfast-however, there is a privately owned cafe on site with excellent choices-you don't have to leave the hotel to get to it. Oftentimes complimentary breakfasts are unhealthy-this cafe had many coffees teas, smoothies and baked goods choices and options using high quality and fresh ingredients.
