Amherst Inn

Pros: Very sweet and friendly hosts, great breakfast and service, friendly guests to chat with, beautiful rooms and decor, and the goodess inn dog!

Cons: Heating system was not working on the first night despite sub-zero temperatures (celcius) outside, which made for a cold first night. However, the hosts quickly fixed it with a portable heater the next day.

Pros: We had an amazing stay at the Amherst Inn. The location is fantastic—just a short walk to downtown and plenty of great restaurants. The property itself is beautiful, and the breakfasts were wonderful. They make delicious custom omelets with your choice of fresh ingredients.

Cons: The owners, Christine and Tom, are truly exceptional hosts. They went out of their way to help us, even offering to drive us to campus with all our bags. We felt completely at home here.

Comfortable and cozy

Pros: Everything about the operation was thoughtful. The room was comfortable. The towels were fluffy. The house was beautiful and well- kept. The owners were kind and helpful. The breakfast was superb. The tea service at all hours was much appreciated. The porch and the back garden were a great place to relax.

This delightful inn, located across from Emily Dickson’ home was a delight.

Pros: Beautiful, classic New England inn with a lovely screened-in porch and beautiful common areas. Perfect location - across the street from the Dickinson home. The hospitality of the innkeeper was warm and welcoming. Delicious breakfast.

Cons: I would have loved if it included a bathrobe.

Pros: The Amherst Inn boasts beautiful and comfortable rooms - not just the room we stayed in but the shared parlor, dining room, garden seats, and our personal favorite spot, the porch looking out on Emily Dickinson’s home. The hosts were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early, and cooked delicious breakfasts. Our stay was a total pleasure.

One of the best places I've ever stayed in -- for comfort, excellence in every detail.

Pros: The breakfast was outstanding -- a long list of options each prepared fresh. I usually have trouble sleeping in a new bed but I slept for 11 hours straight. The entire place is perfectly designed in 1880s style, each room offering splendid design details to look at and admire.
