Amsterdam Castle NY

Magical!

Pros: Amazing, magical castle-like experience- we were transported back in time. Property is meticulously maintained and charming. We stayed in the family suite and were blown away, it was so gorgeous.

Cons: There is no on-site restaurant or bar during the off-season, but there are many options in town to make up for that.

Amazing haven on a snowy night

Pros: I came to the Amsterdam Castle because I was tired of driving through blowing snow. It was warm and welcoming, curious and wonderful, and very clean, at an exceptionally low price. What more can a weary traveller ask?

Cons: Pretty much everything. Huge warm room, vast inside spaces, a well-plowed parking lot in a snow storm

Pros: The quirky atmosphere and history. The JFK room. The shower and bed...both brilliant!

Pros: Unique and very cool, so much to see, what the owners have done with this former military barracks is amazing. The facilities are a high standard, very comfortable and spacious, the owners are friendly and welcoming, will stay here again for sure!

Cons: Nothing, great experience...

Fun, vibrant and alive.

Pros: Next to Empire Trail, idiosyncratic, one of a kind

Cons: Didn’t serve breakfast but that was ok as there was a great breakfast joint nearby and an amazing Italian for dinner 3 minutes walk away

We slept in a castle and pretended we were at Hogwarts!

Pros: We loved that the hotel feels like a castle. Our room was huge- we went with the one with a King and queen bed and the living room area was quite large as well.

Cons: There was nothing to dislike, really. It was a really cool place! It was odd to be in a residential area surrounded by backyards, but who cares. It was still very nice.

I liked it. I hope to stay there again sometime.

Pros: There was no breakfast, but I knew that so I took my own which was no problem.

Cons: Something to rest my feet on while I was having some beverages in the evening would have been nice. I And if there was a ice machine there I didn't find it.

Royal Accommodation.

Pros: This is a diamond in the rough. Really well done adaptive reuse of an old State Armory. Amsterdam has its challenges as a city and community but this property and its staff represent the community in a very positive way.

Great stay, Highly Recommend. Like a museum with beautiful reproductions and cool knight armors.

Pros: Beautiful Location. Well maintained property. Staff was superb. Room was clean and accommodating. Castle story is very interesting.

Cons: I couldn't figure out how to use the Keurig Machine. May be it was the machine or me. Restaurant didn't have vegetarian or kid options.
