The Heartwood

Pros: Lovely hotel, conveniently located to walk to local restaurants and cafes. Our room was very spacious, clean and stylish. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was a bonus and tasty with fruit, pastries and oatmeal, with cooked items available, separately at a price.

Cons: Nothing really, although, it would be nice if the restaurant and bar were open later than 9 pm. That we couldn't stay for longer than 1 night and the explore the area further.

Brand new hotel in a wonderful location

Pros: Brand new hotel in a wonderful location right in front of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie (though technically in a beautiful area of the Hudson Valley). We stayed two nights in a lovely room on the second floor with two queen beds (we are a family of three). The staff was very responsive to all extra requests, very polite and friendly, and the breakfast was excellent (not a huge selection, but everything was fresh and good). The hotel is in the best area, right across from the university. It was truly a pleasure to stay here, especially because the hotel is quiet, clean, and well finished. The price is fair for what they offer.

Pros: Wonderful hotel more or less on Vassar grounds. We loved it and would have stayed a few more days.

Cons: All was good. ‘Natural’ - tree less toilet paper. This must be a misunderstanding. The US is full of sustainable forestry.

Beautiful new hotel in great location

Pros: Beautiful stylish hotel in great location. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms are lovely . Opposite Vassar college and its beautiful grounds and within walking distance to cafes and restaurants .

Cons: The breakfast is a continental breakfast which would be fine but it’s actually pretty poor . Extremely limited selection only small croissants and oatmeal and finely chopped fruit . I would like to see toast/ bagel options with butter and selection of spreads plus a range of breakfast cereal and fruit bowl.

Friendly, beautiful property, great value for money.

Pros: Modern, artfully designed, friendly staff, spacious room, very well equipped, peaceful surroundings, and lovely breakfast (not a wide spread, but good food).

Pros: A well-run hotel, with great staff. Given how recently it was opened everything is great.

Cons: A pity that they weren't able to provide a full breakfast, butnI understand this will follow soon.

The best choice if visiting Vassar College

Pros: All the staff was really helpful and professional. The location is great if visiting Vassar university. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Amenities are of good quality. The restaurant is also very good though there is not lot of choices in the menu but it is correct. Complementary breakfast is also very nice. Good quality of fruit and pastries.

Cons: It is an amazing hotel so there is no negative comment about it. If any I would only say that it is a pity that there is no option for lunch since the restaurant is only open for dinners.
